About

Kayla was a 2009 Pathfinder Nominee for art in Palm Beach County, Florida and has a passion for bringing light, joy and hope into the world through her art. She has a rare autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis and after almost dying in 2022/2023 she has returned to the art community in hopes of showing others that beauty can come out of darkness.

Her family, faith, community, medical professionals, and passion for art saved her and she feels a sense of purpose in sharing hope and joy with others in their time of need just like she received through her difficult time.

“I almost died last year from a rare autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis (DM). It was the darkest point in my life but art was a constant that helped me rediscover myself as I healed. I let go of the feeling of not being enough and embraced my art for the first time in a decade. That experience taught me the importance of sharing your passions and gifts with the world, and that living authentically can help heal yourself and those around you.”

Kayla is determined not to let her disease stop her mission to bring light and joy to others through art.
